The M274 (and its transverse-mounted M270 sibling) is Mercedes-Benz's 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine introduced in 2011 and still produced today. It powered virtually every entry- and mid-range petrol Mercedes from 2014 onwards. Early units suffered well-documented timing chain and oil consumption problems; post-2016 production is markedly improved.
