The M156 is AMG's naturally aspirated 6.2L V8, the first AMG engine designed entirely in-house. Produced from 2005 to 2015 in 63 AMG models and the SLS AMG (as the related M159), it is famous for its exhaust note but notorious for camshaft wear and head bolt issues that require expensive top-end work.
